“Spartacus: Blood and Sand” is brought to the small screen by Starz with executive producers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Joshua Donen. The first episode of the first season premiered last January 22 of this year. It is set for 13 episodes. The second season is already being scheduled for 2011. Andy Whitman portrays Spartacus, the lead character of the show. The other characters are made of Jai Courtney as Varro, Antonio Te Maioha as Barca, Nick E. Tarabay as Ashur and Craig Parker as Glabber.

Cost is not an issue on making the show. This was obvious with the setting, the props used and the costumes worn by the actors. The storyline is very interesting and the  actors are very good in their portraying their characters. Fighting scenes are also beautifully choreographed that makes movies like 300, Troy and Gladiator seemed tame.

Anna Hutchison to star in Spartacus season 3

The new 3rd season of Spartacus will be casting the bold and the beautiful Anna Hutchison. She plays Laeta, who is the wife of a Roman dignitary and by virtue of it gets involved in the epic war with Spartacus.

Other important casts include, Jenna Lind who is an Australian actress. Jenna plays the role of Kore who is a slave and is loyal to Simon Merrell’s Marcus Crassus. Gwendoline Taylor also plays the role of a slave named Sibyl. Sibyl was saved from Romans and impresses the rebel leaders with her pursuit against the Romans.

Steven DeKnight of the Spartacus team recently vexed viewers saying that the third season is going to be dirty and ethically messy.

The show caught so many eyeballs that Starz was ready for the third season even before the second season was telecasted

The main lead, Julius Caesar is being played by Todd lasance of Home and Away fame.
